(Continued...)
Sana had always been a campus crush. The amount of attention she receives from both boys and girls has boosted her ego, molding her into this confident go-getter who isn't afraid to play to her strengths.
Her little sister, despite being equally attractive and intelligent, didn't share her confidence, much to her chagrin. It wasn't much of an issue as they grew up because she loved being the big sister and doing things for her dongsaeng whenever her shyness flared up; but now that they're in college, it's painful to see Mina grappling with her introversion because it now affects her happiness. Mina struggles to express her feelings for Momo, which bothers the older sister. She needs to do something ASAP.
Her plan needs to be subtle, Sana thought to herself, as a grand and obvious gesture might only cause Mina to retreat further inside her stubborn shell. It needs to be a subtle nudge in Momo's direction. Something to add a little color in the way she sees the younger girl. Not just the cute penguin they grew to view Mina, but as a full-grown lady with all the grace and beauty of a ballerina.
And a subtle nudge it was. Well, quite literally as it turned out.
On one occasion, the three of them were having a relaxing afternoon on the university grounds. Despite having different courses, they all had open hours at the same time, thanks to their collaborative efforts during enrollment, so they could still have bonding moments. Sana placed the snack bag she had brought in the middle of the blanket they were all sitting on. The two ladies were clapping joyfully as if they were children when presented with food.
They both stopped clapping at the same time, much to Sana's amusement, as their gazes locked on their favorite snack. It was similar to the beginning of the Hunger Games when they suddenly became competitive and were about to run through the cornucopia.
Sana quickly picked the prize they were eyeing and stated her condition before either of them could move "I only purchased one of these. Since I know this is the only exception to each of your generosity, and both of you vehemently refuse to share even a bite whenever either of you has this, I decided to award it to the winner of my game."
"Come on, Sana-chan! I'm older than this penguin so I deserve that more." Begs Momo, trying to win Sana's favor by using her age and flashing her puppy dog eyes.
"I'm your little sister that you swore to protect and love till the end of times! So love me now and gimme that!" Mina tried to take it away from Sana. They were laughing and rolling on the blanket as each girl tried her hardest to win the box of Pepero, but Sana was unwavering.
"No! Behave yourselves, you two." Sana, with her contagious laugh, giggled. "It's either you play my game or I eat all of this!"
The rule was simple: the first one to reach the middle of a Pepero stick will get the entire box for herself. The only catch is, they need to start eating from opposite ends.
The two ladies were serious about winning but had to take a few seconds before starting so they could first calm themselves from all the previous laughing. On Sana's count, they positioned themselves on each end. On cue, they started biting away while stifling their laugh. Near the middle, as their bites became more of a nibble to have more control over their distance, Sana suddenly leaned forward and pushed their heads together.
Both girls were startled as their lips met, the crushed Pepero falling between them, completely forgotten. They blushed and, with panic written all over their faces, turned their attention to Sana, who was then slapping her leg and laughing her heart out like a baby seal.
Sana's little plan worked like a charm; she later caught Momo stealing glances in Mina's direction. When their gazes met, they both turned beet red before becoming stuttering fools.
That was the first time Momo entertained the idea of being romantically involved with Mina. The rest, as they say, is history.

Sana was there when it all began until it fully bloomed into something deep and wonderful. Inherently, Momo and Mina are awesome human beings. In the eyes of one loving Sana, these two are a match made in heaven — one she's very vocal in pointing out — that that in itself is proof enough: she is their drop-dead gorgeous angel. A claim that's usually reciprocated with fake vomiting from Momo and snickering from Mina.
"We are endgame, Mitang."
The first time Sana heard Momo say this to Mina while they were absorbed in their little world, she saw time stand still for the two as they looked deep into each other's eyes.
She was incredibly happy for them. Sana was so happy that she decided to celebrate right then and there, so while Momo was busy being lovey-dovey with Mina, she sneakily reached forward to swipe Momo's raspberry yogurt smoothie. She grew to like it after the other girl made her try it, and it is now their shared favorite.
Momo slapped her wrist even before finally breaking her syrupy love stare with Mina. "Ow! Did you really have to hit me so hard?" Sana let out a yelp.
"No swiping! No swiping!" Momo exclaimed, while Mina chuckled and returned her focus to her food tray.
"All right, Dora the Explorer!" a pouting Sana countered. "We're in the cafeteria, after all. I was simply attempting to assist you in finishing your meal. There are only 7 minutes until our next class."
Momo enjoys teasing Sana mostly because of her cute face when sulking. One of Sana's many charms.
After finishing their lunch, they got up to go. "Let's go, Map," Momo said to Mina.
"Yah! Why do I get to be Map, Dora?"
"Because you always help me navigate this world so I can keep reaching the place I want to be in," Momo replied.
"And where is that?" Mina says, reaching out for Momo's hand.
"Right next to you."
Mina giggled at the cheesy line, hands intertwined with Momo, while Sana rolled her eyes, cringing animatedly. "Hirai, we're in our third year of college now. Even so, your lines are still incredibly corny!"
The duo bantered all the while they were walking to their respective classes, Mina in the middle enjoying the show.
"Make sure you get to study psychology real hard, Hirai." Sana continues her tirade, "So you can somehow figure out why you're so corny, and why you're built to be like so."
"Built like what? Yah! I'm flawlessly built with killer moves and a great body. I'm after all 'Made in Japan'."
"So are we, you doofus. And your so-called 'flawless build' is made up of food anyway. Most especially Jokbal." Sana countered.
"Touché. I can't argue with that one, Sana-chan." Momo laughs.
Jokbal is a Korean dish that Momo was introduced to as an exchange student a semester during her junior year of high school. She met three Korean ladies who introduced her to it, and she hasn't been able to get enough of it since.
She consumes Jokbal like it's going out of style. Something she enjoys dearly yet it doesn't hit the bottom. She gets physically full, of course, but it's temporary. That's how hunger and craving works.
That is why, even if it is her favorite food, it will never suffice.
