Wherever You Will Go

Wherever You Will Go - Klowinari Twice AU

PROLOGUE

“I think I saw Nayeon at the casino.”

“When? Is she still there?” Momo peered from the hotel room’s kitchen, holding a coffee mug.

“I was talking to Dahyun. Not you.”

“Be nice, Mina. You know you wouldn’t be here if—”

“If it hadn't been for you. I know,” Mina interjected. “You've said it a thousand times before, you jerk. And you think I’m thankful to you for it?”

“Careful. I’m not really in the mood to take all your shit today, princess.”

Dahyun touched Mina’s arm and gave her a look. They looked at each other for a few seconds. Mina looked defiant while breathing heavily, Dahyun with a look of concern plastered across her face. Mina deflated slightly and took a deep breath, closing her eyes.

“Excuse me. I need to use the bathroom.” Mina said finally.

“That’s it. Dump all your issues in the toilet, baby girl. Not on me.”

It took all of Mina’s willpower not to make a scathing reply. She slammed the bathroom door, locked it, and cried. Or tried to, at the very least. No actual tears formed, but the brimming emotions were real. Mina tried to compose herself. She hated looking at her reflection, but she forced herself to face what was in front.

It was still the same: A pretty face. Beautiful body. Perfectly made make-up and styled hair. Missing smile. Lost eyes.

She sighed and averted her gaze. She is still unable to look any longer. Even after all these years, she still despised the girl in the mirror.

“Mina…” Dahyun’s tiny voice could be heard from the other side of the door.

“Please, leave me alone.”

Mina's bodyguard is Dahyun. She understands that asking her to leave is an impossible request. Momo wanted her to have a bodyguard, and even though Mina chose Dahyun, she is still employed by Momo.

Even with just the confines of the cramped hotel bathroom, she wanted to have her peace.

“Mina, please open the door. You’ve been there for half an hour already…” Dahyun pleaded.

“Dahyun, I said leave me alone.”

“Mina,” Dahyun’s faltering voice could be heard, trying her best to appeal to Mina. “Mina — I really need to pee.”

“Oh.” Mina opened the door and an embarrassed Dahyun entered, taking tiny steps toward the toilet.

Momo searched the casino for Nayeon. If Mina saw her, she might not have left yet. The gun holstered on her shoulder felt heavier than it had before.

“Where do you think you’re going looking like you’re on a shoot-to-kill order?”

Momo's train of thought was disrupted. When she looked around, she saw a pretty, blonde girl with tattoos standing there. It was her girlfriend.

“I, uh, was just looking for someone. I thought I saw a familiar face.”

“I know that look. Someone’s gonna get hurt, I know it. And it’s only a matter of time before it’s you. Stop it. You promised you’d stop obsessing over things related to your job when we started dating.” Chaeyoung put one hand on Momo’s arm firmly.

“I’m not obsessing.” Momo snapped at Chaeyoung, freeing her arm harsher than she intended to.

Chaeyoung observed the sudden shift in attitude but said nothing. Momo noticed how her girlfriend pursed her lips, indicating that she was upset. Oh, shit. She needs to fix this. Fast.

“Baby,” Momo started, circling her arms around Chaeyoung’s neck. “It’s nothing, really. I just wanted to say hi to an old friend for old times’ sake.”

Momo lowered her voice adding a touch of sweetness to it, a combination best served hot when dealing with Chaeyoung. Sprinkled with a bit of sultry look and a half-smile, she saw her girlfriend lower her eyes to her lips and felt her heart race faster.

“Uhm, o-okay, if you say so,” Chaeyoung stammered. Their close proximity made her lose her composure. She can’t stop looking at Momo’s lips, her weakness.

“Good girl,” Momo whispered seductively in her ear. “I promise to be one, too. So you could reward me once we get home, yes?”

With that final touch, Chaeyoung lost the capacity to think straight. She just nodded blankly as if daydreaming, even after Momo turned her shoulder and lightly pushed her to walk away.

Momo watched her girlfriend shuffle off dazed. She didn’t like doing that to the poor girl, but she needed to get rid of Chaeyoung for a while. She’d deal with her later. For now, she needs to find Nayeon.

-

Nayeon was sure it was Mina.

They locked eyes for a while and saw recognition flash across the other's face. It was just for a short second, but she knew it had the desired effect. The crowd was just the perfect cover. After she made sure Mina saw her, she let the sea of strangers engulf her into anonymity.

Chapter 1 coming soon

📌

I'm excited about this. I mean, I'm not saying it's going to turn out great or anything, but isn't it a wonderful feeling to create something and get to birth it into this world? If you, dear reader, get to enjoy whatever this is, then I'm glad. If not, thank you for reading still. I'll try to do better in the future so that hopefully, I get to celebrate with you, too. <3

I'm finding this therapeutic so I guess I owe it to myself to improve.

Again, thanks to the people who relentlessly support me even though I'm literally nameless in this field. I love you all! If ever there are new ones reading this... uhm, hello! 😊

I want to know what you think is the setting of this AU!
